The National Statistical Institute has the pleasure of introducing to the users its latest regional edition "Statistical Review 2002 of Varna District", published by the Varna Regional Statistical Office.
The issue contains topical statistical data on the demographic processes, as well as on the socio-economic and cultural life in Varna District for the period 1998 - 2001.
This edition is a continuation of the periodical publications of the Regional Statistical Office of Varna such as "Statistical Review - Varna'96" and "Statistical Review - Varna'99", the difference is in the updated contents and improved structure.
The issue is structured in two parts.
The first part - "Varna District", comprises data at regional and municipality level. To the previously known thematic sections new ones are included. There is a special chapter in the beginning which contains time series by main indicators on the demographic, social and economic development of the district in the period 1990 - 2001. New chapter is "Regional Accounts" in which for the first time data on gross value added and gross domestic product for Varna District are published, and also new is the chapter "Small and Medium Enterprises". In a separate chapter data on the last census on population, housing and agricultural farms as of March 1, 2001 are published.
The second part of the issue contains main data on the North-Eastern Planning Region, defined in several chapters. For the first time in a regional publication comparable data on the six districts within the planning region are included. The most important indicators for describing the profile and specificity of the territorial units are selected. Basic data are included on population, labour market, regional accounts, agriculture, construction, tourism, health and education within the North-Eastern Planning Region by Districts for the period 2000 - 2001.
The issue is addressed to a wide range of users: public and local administration, business circles, scientists, lecturers, students from schools and universities, as well as to the general public.
